Overview

The HR Generalist is responsible for managing key human resources functions, including payroll, onboarding, personnel administration, benefits, and compliance reporting. This role also supports the execution of HR policies and programs to ensure smooth business operations.

Responsibilities

Payroll & Compensation

  • Process payroll and track leave without pay (LWOP).
  • Administer salary increases and adjustments.
  • Manage creditable coverage reports (1094/1095 forms).

Onboarding & Employee Relations

  • Oversee onboarding and out-processing of employees.
  • Approve letters of offer (LOO).
  • Provide counseling and support for employee improvement plans (PIP).
  • Administer skill assessment forms.
  • Handle workers' compensation audits and claims.

Benefits & Compliance

  • Serve as the 401K plan administrator.
  • Manage 401K enrollments, rollovers, payroll contributions, and force-outs.
  • Conduct the year-end census and ensure compliance with Safe Harbor 401K contributions.
  • Distribute required notifications to enrolled participants.
  • Ensure compliance with affirmative action reporting (Berkshire).

Administrative & Office Management

  • Support corporate events and ensure smooth HQ operations.
  • Work closely with the accounting team on financial coordination.
  • Act as a bank access approver on accounts payable.
  • Manage office supplies and vendor relationships to support daily operations.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
  • 15+ years of experience in HR roles, preferably in a generalist capacity.
  • Strong understanding of HR laws, payroll processing, and benefits administration.
  • Experience handling affirmative action reporting and workers' compensation audits.
  • Proficiency in HR software and payroll systems.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience with 401K plan administration.
  • Familiarity with Berkshire affirmative action reporting.
  • Prior experience working with accounting or financial teams.
